Histories of 60s pop focus on the British Invasion and American Psychedelia, but the zeitgeist reached far beyond that. I think all 60s music reflects the optimism and social evolution of the decade. Dylan, Beatles, Hendrix and the rest are great but everybody plays that stuff.
I've been working on a set of mostly instrumental pop from the 60s. It includes surf music, Latin music, film music, and some deliciously sleazy trash. El Borko was the beginning of that… I plan to play a lot more solo and duo shows in the coming year.
I'm also working on arrangements for an Simon & Garfunkel show. Don't hold yer breath. It's taking forever.
